people watching

i  can’t help it. i look into a person’s life for the second or two that i’m near them and tell myself a story about who they are. i don’t always do i on purpose. lots of times it’s just part of the act of seeing them at all. since i have studied dance and massage, i watch bodies a lot – how they are put together, muscles, bones and joints. how one person navigates the same stretch of sidewalk, on that one day in their lives that i might be seeing them, may have very little in common with someone else’s path through the same space.

today, watching people on Lakeshore, i got the words to what i hope will be a song.
