I present for your spiritual edification, the late great Bo Diddley, who was born on this day in 1928

Witness: an integrated band, with a woman instrumentalist, before Sly and the Family Stone.

Behold: the fabulous pre-Hendrix guitar freaky stylings.

Marvel at: the unmistakeable beat, named after Mr. Diddley himself, born (no doubt) from the clave of Afro-Cuban music, that underscores the Mother-and-child relationship of Africa and the Americas through the Caribbean once again.
